| Cryptocoryne griffithii can be found from South Johore (Malay peninsula) and Singapore via Bintan to Kalimantan (Indonesia). It is difficult to grow in a standard aquarium. However, growing emerse proves to be easier.

| Found in the central catchment area of Singapore, part of the habitat of Cryptocoryne griffithii was a close shave to destruction, paving way for new development meant for nature appreciation. The water is of average flow with the plants growing in clusters in a mixture of sand, pebbles and muddy substrate. Some are growing among thick iron deposits.
