The day starts

It was a sunny sunday morning as we put our packs in the car and set off to a beach in Malaysia for a driftwood collection trip.

The immigration check point weren't crowded and we quickly drove through. We stopped by Pelangi for a quick bite and boy, the mee soup and roasted chicken were delicious.

Time ticked quickly and it was near noon when we hopped back into the car. The day looks good despite the fact that it was raining throughout the week.It was a gruelling three hours drive before we reach the coast.

We reached the area where many dead trunks were spotted. There were several huge ones laying all across the beach. Due to the sun beeching, sea breezes and constant showering with sea water in the air, the woods are all covered by a white salt coat.

The wood carries some interesting patterns which was brought out by the white salt coat. You can see one nice piece above.

Anyway, after much time spent sitting on the trunks and enjoying the sticky cool breeze, we started sawing the branches. We were rather selective as the car isn't big enough to transport a lot of them.

Eventually, we got away with a box load of around 20 piecies. They ain't master pieces for sure, but its not a bad way to spend a lazy sunday afternoon afterall.
